Zingerman’s Russian Dressing
So what is Zingerman? And why name a simple Russian Dressing after it?
Actually, Zingerman is a family.
It is the best Ann Arbor Restaurant for Lunch. The Ann Arbor Cured Meats and Cheese Deli Market also hosts the Sandwich Restaurant and Specialty Cheeses Shop.
People come from hundreds of miles to eat at Zingerman’s and purchase foods from their market.
I am blessed to live only 30 minutes away. And I always make sure I have some of their dressing in my pantry.
Whether a little or a lot, I love to have dressing.
But true to form, I always just have to try to make my own version.
Now their own dressing is much better than mine. But I don’t have that Zingerman history behind me.
These are the INGREDIENTS You will need:
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup plus 2 to 3 tablespoons chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 2 teaspoons curly fresh parsley leaves chopped
- 1 tablespoon Spanish onion minced
- 1 teaspoon Spanish onion minced
- 1 tablespoon dill pickle minced
- 1 teaspoon dill pickle minced
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon grated horseradish
- 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
These are the INSTRUCTIONS For preparation:
- Prepare ingredients. Chop the parsley. Mince onions and pickle.
- Make sure you read the onion and pickle measurements. They are not duplicated but add the tbs and tsp to each one.
- Place all ingredients in a large bowl.
- Combine all ingredients and whisk together.
- Transfer dressing to a tightly covered container.
- Store in refrigerator.
NOTES
Read ingredients carefully. Both onions and pickles are a combination of measurements.
If you haven’t had the original, this recipe will give you all the flavors you are looking for.
This recipe makes a classic dressing that we all know and love.
Serve as a spread on favorites like reubens, burgers, sandwiches or salads.
Made ahead of time serve it for parties, BBQ’s, or even for a family night in.
Remember to make enough for everyone. It works well as you can double or even triple the recipe for when you need it.
You don’t have to love dressing to love this Russian sauce. Use this dressing on my Reuben Sandwich!
I typically serve Zingerman’s Russian Dressing on Deli style sandwiches. They are high enough you can slather it in between the layers of shaved meats.
It is best used when it drips slowly down the sandwich. No sandwich tastes better,
I love to serve Deli sandwiches when I entertain for a late lunch.
There is just something special about eating a Deli sandwich at home.
And there is a bonus where you can assemble and dress the sandwich to suit your own needs.
So I use a sandwich station where I serve the Make Your Own Lunch table.
It has Deli Pickles, Homemade Classic Cole Slaw, Artisan Breads and of course lettuce and home grown tomatoes.
Sometimes I even put guacamole and onions On the table too.
