The Great Pumpkin

November 3, 2017 by Marilyn 47 Comments

At this time of year as nature is preparing to hibernate for a few months it is also a time for us to reflect on all the wondrous bounty there is to behold. Please enjoy this collection of pumpkin goodness we share in our home.

The Great Pumpkin! It’s the great pumpkin Charlie Brown! Every time Fall comes around I can’t help but think of that show. The characters always caused me to reflect on the children I knew that could have played those roles. We visit the orchard up the street for our choice of the best pumpkins, mums, apples, honey and jams. Grandpa takes the grand to play on all the outdoor activities every year while making priceless memories. In addition to the corn maze and the giant rocking chair there is an entire village of homemade buildings to play in. There is even a firehouse with a real working firehose for the kids to operate. That place is bustling from September to November and bursting from the seams. So at this time of year as nature is preparing to hibernate for a few months it is also a time for us to reflect on all the wondrous bounty there is to behold. Please enjoy this collection of pumpkin goodness we share in our home.

I have been thinkin of pumpkin for weeks. The craving got so bad I ordered a pice of pie tonight at dinner and was SO disappointed. It was soggy and nothing like homemade. Thanks for the kind words. Satisfy that craving carefully!

That is the worst to crave something and then it isn’t good! You definitely need to redeem yourself and eat a dessert that you know will be good! It’s the weekend, treat yourself to a yummy dessert! 🙂

This is a wonderful roundup and I’d start with the cheesecakes. A couple years back I decided to get a fresh pumpkin for a recipe. My kitchen was a hot mess! After that fiasco, I use canned pumpkin. Thank you for sharing with us at Celebrate Your Story, and have a great weekend.

When the boys were little I always cubed the jack-o-lantern adnput it in the pressure cooker. Then put it in a blender with milk and spices. I have no desire to carve or heat up the kitchen. Canned is just fine with me too! Enjoy.
