Break out your kale containers. Protect your secret stash. This trail mix is YOURS! Grab a bag of each of your favorite snacks. Rip open each one and dump in an extra large bowl. Prepare in a room away from the kids so they can’t hear you putting this together. The smell and sound makes them come running like a can opener will to a pet. Keep that kale container full at all times as this sweet and salty creation from heaven screams to be eaten. Often. Enjoy! And don’t forget, “I told you so!” Another original creation from Marilyn’s Treats secret stash. #chex # raisins #sweet #salty

Mine always found my Christmas present hiding place too. So I started switching gifts with my sister. She had girls and I had boys. Needless to say they were horrified! LOL. I hope you find a similar snack mix at your home to make. Enjoy!

Heya Michele, thanks!
Hi Marilyn, thank you so much for sharing at #SimplifyWednesdays! and yet another recipe my hubby would love! I swear he’d rather you cook for him than me lol … I hand him a bowl of mixed berries and grapes with a greek yogurt dip and he rolls his eyes at me … he would much prefer your snack mix than mine lol …
I will take yours! I am too lazy to wash the fruit!
I just may have to make this for the Fourth of July using red, white and blue M & Ms. This will be a hit with my family.
I just love these snack mixes. Easy to take as a hostess addon. I made this for Amemorial Day but my husband could only find regular m&m’s.
Yum! I’m a huge fan of any type of snack/trail mix! Looks both easy and delicious! Thanks for sharing at #SmallVictories linkup!
Thanks Danita. I hope I gave you some ideas!
Sweet and salty is my favorite combo and this recipe is perfect for that! Thanks so much for sharing this with us on #shinebloghop this week, Marilyn!
Thank you Maria! I love that party.
The recipe looks delicious. But, frankly, you had me at “kale container.” #genius. Stopping by from the #ShineBlogHop!
Thanks Elizabeth. The history of the kale container is in my Menopause Pie post! Glad you found it fun!
Yum, this is my favorite kind of snack mix. I love the sweet and salty combo! We used to make something similar to this and call it “gorp”–I have no idea where that name came from.
Actually I have seen that name around! I am glad you likeit!
Sounds perfect and oh so easy! Pinned.
Thank you for the comment, and the Pin! Have a gret week.
I’m pretty sure I could eat this WHOLE bowl! 🙂

Marilyn, I love your Tweet! I’m digging though my cabinet in search of a kale container. 🙂 What do they look like!
It is the old scarred nasty tupperware nobody will look for in the fridge!
Well this looks yummy. I love that you added some chocolate to it. A world without chocolate is so sad. I found you on Celebrate Your Story. I’d love for you to link up to our link party too at Fearlessly Creative Mammas.
What!! A world without chocolate? Say it isn’t so! I will check out yur party.
Lol, every mom needs a kale container in her life!!! Great idea! Thanks for joining the Family Joy Linkup!
Thanks Rachel. This blog has made all my tricks an open book! Have a wonderful day.
When the kids were little they could here potato chip bags opening a mile away! This is my kind of snack mix and it has mindless eating written all over it but I don’t care! Thanks for joining us again this week at Celebrate Your Story.
Yeah, you need that ladle to dish out portions. But make sure you only get one bowl out of the cupboard! Have a wonderful day.
Oh yeah…sweet and salty goodness! Thanks for this delicious idea! I think I’ll keep mine in a Metamucil can! Lol!
Please, I m at an age Metamucil is a bad word. I had three procedures last Friday! LOL
Yum! Yum! YUM,
LOL, Ingrid. Have a wonderful day.
I’ve never understood why it’s called trail mix? Any ideas?
I got this from wikipedia, “Trail mix is considered an ideal snack food for hikes, because it is lightweight, easy to store, and nutritious, providing a quick energy boost from the carbohydrates in the dried fruit or granola, and sustained energy from fats in nuts.”
How did you know that I have to hide stuff like this from my kids or I will never get a taste! Definitely going to employ the “kale container” for this one. Now to keep my husband away from it!
I am a mom! We etat cold food, we eat last, and we often don’t get first helpings! I say protect our rights! LOL
Hi Marilyn, This snack mix is so colorful and I like all the ingredients! Thanks for sharing the recipe! Blessings, Janet
Thank you Janet. I love just how easy this is. Also it lets you clean out those last bits of snacks hanging around in the pantry!
