Smores Milkshake
Do you hear your kiddos yelling “Mom I want some more!” when you offer them a treat?
This is one time you will say yes. Shakes are so easy to make! And this one only needs 6 basic ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
Smores are definitely a creation common to the States but easily made and enjoyed anywhere.
The marshmallow fluff, chocolate chip ice cream and a bit of milk will satisfy any need.
these are the INGREDIENTS you will need:
- 2 cups large marshmallows
- 2 cups chocolate chip ice cream
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup marshmallow creme, such as Marshmallow Fluff
- 1 cup crumbled graham crackers
- 1 drizzle chocolate syrup per shake
these are the INSTRUCTIONS for preparation:
- Preheat the broiler to high.
- Place four 12-ounce glasses in the freezer.
- Put the marshmallows on a baking sheet and broil until golden brown. Allow to cool completely in the fridge.
- Combine the marshmallows, ice cream and milk in a blender. Blend on high until smooth.
- Add a spray of chocolate syrup around the inside of each glass.
- Divide the mixture among the chilled glasses. Spread a thin layer of the marshmallow creme over each milkshake.
- Top with toasted marshmallows. Finish with crumbled graham crackers.
- Serve immediately.
For that something different add the toasted marshmallows and garnish with shaved chocolate and a bit of graham crackers.
Using teddy grahams will make those little ones squeal with delight!
For me, making this Smores Milkshake brought back some fond memories from my childhood.
The first time I ever had a smores was camping with the Girl Scouts.
Watching the others eat them I knew they had a lot of experience making Smores.
When my family went camping I was delighted to find that both my parents knew what I was explaining.
There was something different about watching the flames lick at the browning marshmallows that time then with my Girl Scout Troop.
The fire reflecting in the eyes of my brothers and sister made me feel warm inside.
And this made me feel closer as a family as well as appreciate the power of nature.
It is a feeling I wanted to pass on to my own boys. And now Miss Jo, too.
Even though this milkshake is made inside and the marshmallows are broiled and not toasted, the recollection is the same.
Togetherness of the family and the grins and giggles warm my heart once more.
I hope you also get to enjoy the flood of good times as you enjoy your own Smores Milkshake!
