Slice of Heaven Cake

Cake mix, caramel topping, condensed milk, eggs, cool whip, 5 candy bars? Maybe a bit sweet caramel drizzle?

I bet you have them all in your cupboard right now!!

Want a treat, to satisfy your sweet tooth and not have to go shopping?

These are items I stock pie for my pantry when the buy 10 for $10 sales are running.

So easy to throw together (yeah I say that a lot), but it is true!

Add eggs and water to the cake throw it in the oven, and then just start adding the good stuff on top.

Don’t you just love those one bowl recipes?

You can be serving in under an hour and that is something we all love!

INGREDIENTS you will need

  • 1 package devil’s food chocolate cake or German choc. Cake mix
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 jar caramel topping
  • 1 8 oz tub cool whip, thawed
  • 1-5 snickers bar my preference you can use skor, heath bar, or mini Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.

These are the INSTRUCTIONS For preparation:

  • Bake the cake according to directions in 9 x 13 inch pan.
  • Cool for 5 minutes. Using the handle of a wooden spoon poke holes into cake.
  • Let cake cool for a bit about ½ hour till warm.
  • Slowly pour sweetened milk over cake, letting it soak into holes.
  • Drizzle caramel over the cake. Let cake cool completely (you may refrigerate it to cool faster just cover well).
  • Add chopped candy bars with cool whip. Top cake.
  • Decorate with candy. Drizzle with caramel.
  • Slice and serve.

This cake is your little Slice of Heaven!

It is so easy to put together.

You have the option of chopping the candy bars and mixing with the cool whip, or add them on top!

I also added some chocolate drizzle on top the cake.

Some of us thought it a bit mch.

I think next time I will skip it and just use the caramel. I always tend to go over the top the firs time I make a dessert.

My family enjoyed this cake. The caramel was a great companion ingredient for the snickers candy bars.

Bonus: if you don’t stock condensed milk or your local store doesn’t carry it you can see my recipe for How to Make Condensed Milk.

Great for that last minute contribution to a party or when you get unexpected guests.

It travels well, but I would refrigerate it until you are ready to serve.

Hostess Ding Dongs came out in the 60s. Do you remember them? These little chocolate cakes were perfect to include in sack lunches for the kids. Now, you can make an adult-sized Ding Dong Cake. Layers of chocolate cake surround a layer of cream filling. It's topped with a chocolate ganache just like the Hostess kind.

Like its name it sounds heavenly! I think I would try both options – one with Snickers bars and one with Reese’s minis! Hmm… Twix bar would be another option!

I love them all, but if I choose it is snickers or Reeses. How are you feeling? Hope no heartburn this time!
