My plans for my husband’s Christmas present moved to his birthday (1-31) when the ship date was “undetermined”. It moved again from a promise of mid to late January and I became worried.
I found the desk chair he has been talking about for 35 years. It was the perfect chair, but neither of us thought it would ever become a reality.
From the manufacturer, Herman Miller, this Aeron Chair, has a base price of $1200. When you started to outfit the custom fit, automatic arms, leathers, etc it could double.
My son had found a company that dealt in buying and selling new overstocked chairs for a fraction of the cost. It has been around for 20 years and offers a good reputation, so I gave him the go ahead to check them out for me.
We found the perfect chair, already equipped and fitting his requirements as far as dimensions. And it was on sale due to change of model year. I could get it 63% off of the already discounted price!
We ordered in my sons name and address to keep the surprise from my husband.
Then Christmas delivery dates got pushed back. And backed up trucking schedules coupled with weather delays kept pushing out the date.
The copy of the sale ad was the only thing Mr L received for Christmas, but for the first time in 45 years I saw him speechless.
Once we missed his birthday I was getting upset. And my husband got involved to identify the delays.
Turns out, the color my son ordered is rare and they haven’t been able to get it. But we could get black (my first choice anyway) and the chair is coming tomorrow (as I write this.)
So it will be here for Valentine’s Day!!!!!
I know he will finally be comfortable in his office. And I love the fact I could give him his dream chair and keep it secret!

Having had some package delivery problems lately myself, I understand your frustration. I’m glad yours worked out successfully; I’m still waiting on one of mine. But I did find a post to leave here at #133, about statistics. I wonder what percentage of mailed packages get delayed this days, lol?
I hope your package comes soon. For me the carrier doesn’t matter. They are all slow. I hope they get what they need soon to return to level they once were. I also wonder what the statistics are?? Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!

I’m #61–Mardi Gras World where most of the NOLA Mardi Gras parade floats are made. It was a fun place to visit! No parade this year but many are decorating the outside of their homes instead.
It sounds fun pat! I have never been to New Orleans and have always wanted to go. My husband attended a few conferences there so it was bumped for other cities to visit. Perhaps a girls vacation when things get better? Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of the week!

Hurray! I know that getting some things have gotten a bit harder with delivery dates being pushed back. My daughter had to select a different kitchen table recently because the one she had her heart set on kept having the delivery date pushed back. When the date was pushed to June, she chose another set.
