Now for the news around here.

We have seen very little snow this week. Only 3-4 ” on the ground at any given time.

It seems that our location between the lakes has rerouted the storm away from us again.

Just 1-1 1/2 hours in any direction receives the brunt of all storms.

I feel blessed. We have our car in the garage. But the kids have to park on the driveway.

I don’t miss those days where I needed to get on the road an hour earlier than normal. Or even the time it took to clear the car.

Our HOA has a contract where trucks are sent out to plow if we get 2″ or more. It is worth every penny. My husband would be shoveling not only ours but everyone’s driveways.

Most of the neighbors are older than we are. But we don’t have a snowblower so he uses a shovel. He says he likes the manual work.

He brings up their trash cans every week. And he offers to do any lifting that needs to be done.

I worry because he even does these things the day after his chemo. It shows on those days how much it takes out of him. But that is his nature. And nothing will change that.

Having the perfect amount of packing snow brought its own rewards.

Miss Jo and a friend had the opportunity to take a hike and ice skate and even go sledding on the large hill just behind my home. It is better known as the “16th hole” and the “black tees”. LOL. They built a snowman on the tee box and made a “golf club” to put in his hands.

They were out over 3 hours. With all the snow clothes, hats and masks, only their eyes showed. Still they each could share the fun and togetherness they have been missing.

The close friendship the two girls shared was fun to see. I am blessed to have watched their fun.

We all take and appreciate every moment like that since they are few and far between.

How have you all coped? Single moms, kids home learning or going face to face to school?
Yourself working from home and balancing parenting through the day?
Some of you having to learn to teach your child that is really suffering to learn due to Covid keeping them away from their special teachers. And you having to curtail or change the way you are able to see family and friends.

If you wish to share a bit of your own stories I would love to hear them. Learn how you are all getting on and to lend my hope and thoughts to you all.

Bloggers are resilient. They can be fierce friends and allies. We are stronger together than when we stand alone.

This is the reason Over The Moon was born.

Hugz to all of you.

Hi, Marilyn; thank you for hosting another great party! We got a few inches of snow; my daughters are all grown up and working abroad this year, but I did think of those days of snow sculptures and tobogganing, so much fun! I was watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, got distracted, and forgot to join until now, but I guess it is better late than never; I am sharing #170 Coffee in Mexico and “Café con Leche”. Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Our state Oklahoma received a blast of frigid air today such that temperatures are staying below freezing for the next week, even down to 0 degrees F one night. For us, this is cold, even for February. Only snow flurries are in the forecast but today we had freezing rain, which we dread more than snow-there were multiple accidents on the roads today. At #144 I left a post with a true story a sweet friend graciously allowed me to share, sad but has a happy ending.

Hey Marilyn, I’m at 108, 109, 110 this week. We are trying to celebrate Mardi Gras within our family bubble, and it’s actually been fun to have the closeness with the family. Tom and I got our first vaccine today. All my anxiety was centered on getting him into the medical center with his scooter. In the 1970s, I never thought about how life would be at this age!

Congrats on getting the vaccine!! It is tough here. Even my husbands oncologist can’t get Jim in. There just isn’t enough yet to go around. It gives me comfort knowing that folks I know CAN get it now. We will just stay home and enjoy these 4 walls. I can’t imagine the scooter. Do you have a way to transport it? I think the wheelchair is hard enough. Thank good ness we don’t need it that often. I am glad you found a way to celebrate! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!

I will keep your husband in my prayers, he sounds like a kind soul helping all the neighbors. Mine is the same way but his heart condition limits what he can do these days. I am #58 this week. A memory of visiting the Garden District of New Orleans last year. It is such a pretty place and full of gorgeous mansions and big oak trees plus history.
I am sorry to hear your husband is getting chemo! Wishing him the best results and good health soon. My husband is the same way–he goes out of his way to help everyone.

Out Rockies had snow but not where I live, It has been so dry that a prairie grass fire began today and burned 100 acres in the area. We are hoping for snow!

Oh my Pat! That is awful. I guess we all get our share of weather scares. I have never been to New Orleans but it is on my list of places to visit. my husband was diagnosed in 2005 with Multiple myeloma. Right now it has no cure, but it attacks the immune system as well as blood and bones. The risk is secondary cancers. When he got it the disease was mainly infected older people. But as they can make a better diagnosis they are seeing more cases. and since the younger are getting it, there are healthier people so the research is much better for drugs and such. He has a smoldering type, and has almost doubled his expected life projection. We are hopeful with the progress in drugs he may even be cured. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!

No snow for us, but plenty in the mountains. And a sunny day at least 3 times a week is mood-lifting.
I just think about spring time gardening and plan for it by buying what I will need when it’s time to get outside.
