Now for the news around here.

Can you believe Thanksgiving in the US is less than 2 weeks away?

I look forward to seeing my oldest son for the first time since March. But I have such conflicting feelings.

He lives alone and has been working at home since March.

However, he has such a social personality he has the need to see everyone and go everywhere.

He keeps traveling to other states to purchase his favorite “beverages” that are limited editions.

He goes places to hang with friends that are impossible to distance and wear a mask all the time.

He has been in close contact with more friends that have tested positive than I can count.

He gets tested when that happens and has always been negative.

But, as a mom, I still worry about him even though he is 43. I know, let go. And for the most part I do. But now it is different.

We told him he needed to quarantine at least 2 weeks and retest. It has only been 2 days since he was exposed again.

So far he has agreed. We had a case count of 8515 today (Friday). But I am confident he will do the right thing. And with the small stroke I suffered a week or so ago it is even more important.

I bring all this up because I am confident so many of you have similar stories. And you will make decisions that work for you.

We are setting an entire extra table to remind us of loved ones visiting via zoom. We are dropping food on their porch so we can eat “together.”

Please know even though this year will be a bit different at Thanksgiving, the reason we celebrate is still the same.

We are our thankful for our blessings. The things we have and the things we do. The people we have around us, and life in general.

We are thankful we have shelter and food. And last we are thankful for those that watch over us.

Here is to celebrating LIfe. Everyone’s life.

Hugz

    Marilyn,
I was so saddened when you told me you had a small stroke. That is very scary! And I understand your concern over your son. We have a lot of folks out there doing whatever they please – even ones we love/care about. The ladies in our church had a baby shower today. My husband was furious. But I dropped off our gift and food early before others arrived and bowed out gracefully. I am sure I was talked about but I cannot in good conscience attend a baby shower inside a private home while our county is the 3rd worst in the state for Covid-19.
Anyway, I am numbers 34-36 this week: Costco Fall Finds 2020, Cranberry Pineapple Gelatin Salad, and this week’s Happenings on the Homestead #91.
I hope you have a good week, take care of yourself!

Thank you Melissa for your kindest thought and words. My county just doesn’t believe so all the businesses are packed and not a mask in sight. It truly scares me. I can’t imagine your state being 3rd. But I know you are staying safe and that is what matters. I would have dropped a gift on the porch and called when I got home. Who cares if they talk about you? It is important to stay healthy. I worry they are putting that mom and baby in danger. Shame on them!! Stay safe sweetie. Hugz.

Hi Marilyn: I’m #33 this week. I understand your conflicted feelings about Thanksgiving visitors. It is so hard right now. I haven’t seen my family in a year and it makes me feel guilty. But, with Covid, I’m afraid to travel and possibly take something there or bring something home. My prayer is that a vaccine is available soon and 2021 is much better. Still, so much to be thankful for!
