Now for the news around here.
I must live a chaotic life.
As I look at past reflections for Over The Moon I realize that any one of the events I recall would be a weeks worth of activity for most people. In my life, it is just a day.
This week was no different.
I worked very hard this week to watch my carbs. I think I did a great job as I remembered to write every detail of each meal in my journal.
I created my own spreadsheet and was sure to include the time, glucose levels and blood pressure for each meal.
It took me a long time to plan ahead what I could eat and the portions. I weighed every morsel of food and logged every glass of water. I included the amount of carbs in each ingredient of my food.
All of this has made eating a chore. I don’t look forward to my meals anymore.
Is this something that “counting carbs” is supposed to do??
It has in fact made me go through my recipes and find out which are my healthier dishes.
I am finally ready to be in charge of my kitchen again.
This new commitment to healthier eating has also come with some perks.
I lost 2 pounds this week. It was probably all the tears of seeing all my favorite recipes go to the back of the list.
My dinners though are fairly healthy. I was surprised by that. I just cook like my grandma and fly by the seat of my pants.
You will be seeing me revive some of my best dinners and sides over the next few weeks.
And I will also be including some of my specialties as far as desserts and breakfasts go.
I hope you like them. Let me know if you have a great dish for me to try!!
It takes a village.
Stay safe and stress free this week. It matters.

Congrats on your early results. Keep the good work. I am at 164, 165 and 166. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Thank you for the support Patrick!! I hope things are calm in your lie and you get a bit of self care practiced this week. Stay Safe!!
I know you’ll conquer the skill of eating and cooking low carb-style. It’s the same way with Weight Watchers. It takes about a month to locate WW worthy snacks that I actually like. Lately, I’ve been eating Yasso ice cream bars.
Both of those ideas are helpful Kristie! I am definitely going to check it out. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week.
Hi Marilyn! Yes, I agree! Eating healthy is harder than just eating! I know you can do it though because it sounds like you’ve already put so much into it already! Good luck! I’m posted at 155 this week where I’m sharing with you, my Fall bedroom! 🙂
I am glad you agree Dee Dee. I am following the meal plan about 95% right now. I can see the differences and am getting better at adding my carbs up and having my next meal in my mind. Next week is fats! LOL. Baby steps you know. Thanks you for sharing this week. Stay safe and enjoy your week!
I see many links here to delicious sounding recipes. At #149 I left a link to my post about the flu season than is bearing down upon us on top of the covid season which seems like it will never end. Perhaps fall weather, autumn colors, and comfort food will take our minds off sickness.
Thank you for your article Aletha. I am going back to reread the flu vs covid section. We are suffering here. My son had covid in March and now my daughter-in-law was diagnosed today. My husband and I got our flu shots last week. So symptoms are going to be crazy! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week.
I’m sorry your daughter-in-law is ill, I wish her a speedy and complete recovery. This virus is frustratingly unpredictable. Good for you on the flu shots. I wish everyone would be so wise.
We had so many changes this week Aletha it is impossible to figure what what change is causing each symptom. I had one medication removed. Another doubled, and 2 new started. And my insulin amounts changed because of Ozempic. Between the covid in the house again and the flu shots we are crazy! Just saying because you are a physician. Not trying to be negative. Stay safe and enjoy your week!
I can feel your pain as a yoyo dieter all my life, I have tried them all. I have now learnt to be content with myself and how I look. I try eat sensible most of the time but still enjoy my treats. Congratulations on your 2 pound loss this week. I shared 142 this week.
I have followed like you all my life. Well after kids. But now I need to watch my cholesterol. The Dr was very serious. So I am trying again. It isn;t my vanity this time around. But so many are helping me stay on track. As long as I stay public I will do it!! Thanks for sharing Anita and enjoy your week.
Hi, Marilyn; kudos for your discipline and early results; I am sharing a healthy soup with as much or as little carbs as you want, #137 Tlalpan Style Soup. Thank you for hosting, and have a wonderful week!
Your soup sounds delicious Irene! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
I’ve never been successful with carb counting eating plans. For the first time in my 60+ years I’ve finally been successful with a no sugar (stevia only), healthy fats, organic grains, lots of veggies, and low glycemic index fruit. It’s an easy lifestyle change that reduces inflammation in the body so all those aches and pains slowly go away. Too funny – this isn’t the first time or the second that I’ve ended up being links 99 & 100 at your party. Must be my lucky over the moon numbers. LOL Have a great week, Marilyn!
I am sold on your routine! I thought you being at 100 was familiar!! Better play the lottery. LOL. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
Yea, that sounds like too much work for me. Just keeping track of calories is enough for me. Thanks for the party.
Well I am only on carbs and fate right now. Protein and sugar is coming! A bit at a time. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your week!
Hi Marilyn, congrats on losing 2 pounds and good luck. Thanks for the hosting and I’m #89 sharing fall decorating. Have a nice week Marilyn.
Thank you Julie! I just hope it stays like this for a while. I hate going into a stall. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your week!
Thank you for a wonderful party Marilyn. This week I’m sharing 86-88. Good for you for making a spreadsheet and watching. I know it’s a challenge and blood sugars can be hard to control. Hugs to you
Thanks Chas. I am trying! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your week!

You crack me up Debbie! But I feel a few sutures wouldn’t hurt me. It may keep me from mouthing off too. Thank you for the levity. I needed it!! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your week!
Thank you for hosting :)! Hope you had a GREAT weekend…xo
You are so welcome Jodie! It is always a pleasure to read your posts. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!

Hey Marilyn, this is my first time here and this line caught my attention fast, “I must live a chaotic life.” As a daddy of five active kiddos, this immiddately let me know I was in good company. Thanks for hosting. Wishing you a fantastic Monday!
Welcome to the blog and the party Jed! Even though life is chaotic it is worth it. And your 5 kids beats my 3 generation home hands down. Enjoy those kids as they grow up. Good times are coming! I am coming over to your blog for sure. It will make it easier for me to tell my own tales. I am putting you on my must read list! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
Congrats on your weight loss! It definitely isn’t easy to be so mindful of all that we eat. It’s been over a year and half since I began tracking all my food and I still have days/weeks where I completely forget to track my eating! But those times I do track I am so much better about staying on track. Thanks for featuring my book post! Linking up as # 74-76 this week.
I told you when you started your healthy eating program I would get on board! It just took a while. LOL. I am thrilled you are still doing well. And I hope you will be feeling better soon. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
I’m so impressed that you are sticking with your new eating plan. Thank you for hosting the party. Our links this week are: #63, #64, & #65. Enjoy your week!
Thank you Amy. This time around is harder to see a huge difference. I guess my metabolism is slowing down. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
Eating healthy has its rewards, and should get easier as you adjust to all of it. The point made about protein ratio to carbs sound really smart.
Hope you can feel a bit better about it all by next Sunday!
My spots are 56 and 57 for the week.
RR
Thanks Rachelle. I need a pep talk. Usually when I make a huge life change I always have trouble adjusting. I am getting better even though I forget to keep my virtual journal, I do have the paper. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
Thanks for hosting again – I’m number 53 this week! Enjoy your week!
Shelley
You are so welcome Shelley. You know how much I love your projects! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!

You are welcome Donna. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
Honored to be featured!
Happy Sunday!
Partying at #23.
Congrats again Michele! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
Hi Marilyn, We have been down the carb counting road. In the end I followed the advice of a great nutritionist who told us the most important thing was to balance the carbs with protein. Every meal, every snack should have protein. That was a turning point for me in preparing diabetic friendly recipes for my husband. He and I have both lost weight. I’ve brought my Oven Baked Salmon to the party this week, I’m #39. ~Leslie
That sounds like great advice Leslie! Counting everywhere a carb comes into a recipe is ridiculous. It makes me need a nap. LOL. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
Good on you for trying to eat healthier. I think it gets easier as you get more used to it. 🙂 Thanks for hosting! I brought by some Mini Key Lime Mousse Pies. Hope you enjoy. 🙂
Thank you CJ. I am counting on being accountable and finding new recipes here. This group is the best. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!
Marilyn,
Thank you so much for the feature. You are so sweet. I am pleased to be among so many talented bloggers. I know counting your carbs is tough, but it does become easier. I have been doing it for some time now and it does get easier. Good for you. I am so proud of you.

hi Marilyn, good for you eating healthy!! I know you will feel so much better and energized to face the daily challenges life throws at us! On an opposite note, your Apple Cider Donut Cheesecake sounds amazing 🙂 Thanks so much for the party and here’s to a positive attitude!
Thank you Jenna. Staying healthy right now is hard as I have commitments for some recipes. My new medication though helps keep my cravings down as well as not feeling hungry. But I think you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks for sharing and enjoy a safe week!
Hi Marilyn,
Thank you very much for featuring my elephant! Have a great week!
You are welcome Liz. Congrats again. My granddaughter has grown up with an elephant stuffy since she was born. And now has such a collection of everything elephant. Now she want me to make her this one. Ummmmm. We will see. I haven’t done needlework in years. Thanks for sharing!
