Now for the news around here.
Things have been quiet around here. And I like that.
We have been seeing sweltering heat in Michigan. I see this trend all over the East Coast. I have been staying inside and keeping my feet up.
My daughter-in-law will go back to work full time starting Monday. And my son has been working 2 days a week on one job, and 3 days at the other. But with the incident close to here of 180 covid cases our Governor is slowing the activity on bars. Since he works as a brewer that means less business for him too.
With them going back to work more days, means the constant activity around here will lighten up.
And discussions about going back to face to face learning as opposed to the online academy is going on. They still need to work things out. Jo will still be taking acting and voice lessons online so her world won’t get rocked too hard.
As for my husband and I, we are needing to go back to actually seeing Drs. And my mother-in-law at age 93 will be going with us.
Our faucet in the kitchen will be replaced for the third time since March. This time I am demanding a different model. It is ridiculous to spend over $400 for the faucet and labor and have it constantly dripping when you use it.
We have been able to get more of our grocery order lately. I am now going to stock up a bit for longer than 7 days. When we need to go back t pickup service I won’t have to worry that one week we have almost nothing to eat that is healthy.
Every year my husband and I go on vacation, my daughter-in-law takes on a major project to surprise us.
Once year she totally organized my pantry with cute baskets and wire racks.
Another year she did the same to the garage. She put in wire racks, hooks for bikes and large items, and moved everything up from the floors.
And she even rehung my upper cabinet doors in the kitchen one year. The ones over the peninsula opened out. That resulted in doing a figure eight around the door to get to the shelves. I swear the team was drinking. A lot of the installations were wonky.
With the lockdown we were unable to go out of town. So she cleared out my entire kitchen and started purging and setting up the drawers and cabinets to work more efficiently.
That was well needed! Even though we pared down when we moved from our first home, and again when we moved from the home we built, it has been 10 years of accumulating kitchen toys. And with both of us having a full kitchen, it was time to pick and choose.
I love the final project. I felt like I was experiencing the reveal on HGTV! When my husband came home from the golf course he also got the tour.
He does a lot of cooking and has his own style of preparing food. To keep his anxiety minimal we put all our “salvation army” items on a table and gave him a chance to “protect” his favorites. To my surprise the only thing he didn’t like was we moved the crock of tools about 6 more inches from the stove. I always have to reach over a hot burner to get what I need.
Two days later and everything is still in the same place. But I did notice he hid my coffee mug. When I asked why he said, it was lonely and wanted to be closer to my chair. LOL.
I hope everyone had a great holiday. Now enjoy your party!!
