Now for the news around here.
For the first time since March 10 I have ventured off my property.
Previously I spent the time either sitting on the deck watching nature and the golfers. Or on the front porch playing games with Miss Jo. She did all the running and skipping while I watched. We went for bike rides and long walks and enjoyed summer poking out its head.
But this week I needed to have some annual testing done that of course I couldn’t tele health.
I must say I was nervous. The building is a surgical center with numerous specialists of all kinds.
And any testing you would need is performed there.
Even therapy and counseling for diseases are performed in that building.
The offices I needed to go to are shared with infectious disease control physicians.
Needless to say going there the first day they opened again made me nervous.
There were so many hoops to jump through. Like calling the office for entry into the building. And again once you arrived at their door. Temperature checks before they let you in. And no visitors allowed inside the building.
Once in you still had to fill out the health form. The receptionist wanted to hand me the community pen (umm, really?). I refused and chose to use my own and she looked irritated.
In that huge waiting room there was only one other person. I wondered if that was for the whole day or they were just not busy while I was there.
Then all the pre-visit stuff and the tests. Only face shields and gowns were different. No way to social distance. And I wondered just how they are able to get those machines sanitized.
It was a bit disappointing to get this far only to have not much change where it is really needed.
In Michigan cases are going down. But I doubt that will continue as things open up. Too many aren’t even pretending to take precautions. I know masks and distancing won’t cure or end cases. But they would stop the spread enough that DR and hospitals will stay “underwhelmed” and each day of new info and ideas will help to let us know what we can do and what we should wait on. Monday we will be fully open.
Enough of my opinions. I could get very vocal here, but nothing would come of it other than pit one person against another which is the last thing I want for this blog.
All I can say is for those that are willing to stay in control of your space, please do what you can. And if you don’t want to, then stay with others sharing your opinion.
No one needs to suffer by doing or by not doing what you feel is best for you.
I hope everyone can stay out of the hospitals and save that space for those that truly need it.
I am glad all my anxiety of the appointments is now behind me.
Everyone have a great week! Let it be stress free as much as it can. Keep yourself happy and healthy.
