Now for the news around here.
This week I am trying hard to remember all the important events going on. I can’t remember the day of the week, or if something was today? Or yesterday? Having everyone around all the time there is no structure in my day. I need to a handle on that! I am sure you can all relate.
I try hard to not venture into thinking and planning for events that may not happen. Yet, I do want the knowledge and facts to be prepared for things in my control.
It is feeling that loss of control and planning that I have to keep to a minimum or I think I will go insane!
So how do I deal with that lack of control when my sanity depends on answers? Why I bake of course!! And boy have I been cooking! LOL.
I have never been one to spend all day outdoors and in nature. I am much more content to watch from a far. But I still want to be in the thick of things. And that means being able to bring family together around the table. At least they all sit still for any period of time.
I had to chuckle to find out just how much alike we all are. It seems there isn’t much patience in my home.
I have been teaching Miss J a lot about meal planning and also to not get excited when plans suddenly change. (I am still learning that lesson.)
So I thought I would make some chili. But I didn’t have enough of any one item to use my normal recipe. That little stinker told me “Go sit down and relax grandma. I got this.”
I cringed inside as I watched her put together ingredients from the pantry. She was putting together items I just knew wouldn’t go well together. But I was tired of trying to get her to move in another direction and let her throw cans of everything in to the crock pot.
I never thought an 11 year old could be so stubborn! I wonder where she gets that?
Soon the aroma from the kitchen drew me to check on the crock pot. When I opened the lid her chili was bubbling and looking delicious!
It was the best tasting Chili I have ever tried. And it is well known I have more than a few different Chili recipes. Miss J is quite the recipe developer and is adding to that list.
I am publishing her recipe on the blog. It will be featured on Thursday. We even have a video of it simmering so you can watch and listen to the chili as it cooks.
I invite you to come and see it!
I hope this week ahead brings you the joy, understanding and peace you have been chasing all your life. Be a good example to all the littles looking up to you.
