Now for the news around here.
I need to tell you a story from this week that ends in something very uplifting for me. I hope it does for you too.
My step-sister’s husband passed away this week. He had a series of back surgeries during this year. And one of the medications they used caused him to nearly lose his sight in one eye. And while treating that they discovered he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
It was only about a month after that he passed.
That morning the crane trio that hangs out behind my deck appeared, but they stayed farther away than normal.
A few minutes later they were joined by 16 other cranes! In the 20 years we have lived here I have never seen that many cranes together let alone in this spot.
They whooped up a holler for about 15 minutes before they settled down. Then one of the 3 cranes that had stayed a distance away came forward a few feet and faced the group.
The single whooped off and on for about 15 minutes while everyone stayed in their own spot.
When he was done, the 2 cranes that had stayed behind came forward and joined him.
The rest of the group moved around for a bit and started then flew away. This scene lasted an hour.
Cranes never stay in one spot more than 15-20 minutes.
It was then we got the call about Tom’s passing.
My granddaughter reminded me of the story about a bird visiting the windowsill after a loved one died.
And then she said that the cranes had gathered together for a funeral service since in these days there wouldn’t be one.
She also said the pastor came forward to preach while Michelle and her daughter mourned alone.
Cool kid, huh?
I choose to believe she is right. What do you think??
