Now for the news around here.
Happy New Year to you all!
I thought that this year would start off quietly and then slowly ramp up. I was really looking forward to a slower January.
But the Home Repair Fairies wanted to visit me. And visit with a BANG!
My sweet and oh so caring son decided to do something for his sick wife. My daughter-in-law is suffering from a winter cold. He decided to freshen up her pillows to make her more comfortable.
Now, don’t get me wrong, he has washed many a load of clothes in his lifetime. In fact, each person in his family do their own laundry. But he never tried to wash a pillow like this one.
Rather than using the normal low setting on the dryer, he cranked he up to HOT to make sure all the germs were killed.
Well, just let me show you the photos of what the dryer looked like when the cycle was done. That pillow exploded!
LOL! It was even worse than that! The vent was filled so tightly it took them more than 10 hours to get it free.
They tried bailing with a cup but that proved futile. This filling was like kinetic sand. Every clump seemed to hold on to the next and there was no progress.
The shop vac worked but they had to stop every few seconds to clear the tube. And the more they worked the more the mess seemed to grow.
The banter back and forth was very entertaining. They were working in a small laundry room. But of course the good mom and mother-in-law I am didn’t eavesdrop one bit!
To make matters worse the flexible duct work was never trimmed at installation and there was about 3x what was needed.
So they took apart the dryer, cut the duct work, and cleaned what was left.
We were very lucky there were no parts left over! I couldn’t have handled that.
The next two loads of laundry went off without a hitch. Not a single amount of the filling was left to cover the clothes.
I am confident we will not have a fire.
Now that I know what a great job those two do cleaning and putting things together I see future chores on their list.
I hope your week was uneventful. 😉
