Now for the news around here.
Ok. I have a funny story from this week. My granddaughter was gifted with a subscription to Radish Kids. This is a monthly box of kitchen goodies. You get one kitchen tool, recipes, two skills to learn, a baking patch related to the theme of the box, and a fun activity. Every month she and I have grandma and Jo time and cook our way through the box. This month was creepy foods. We made googly eyes soup, veggie tarantulas and chocolate bat cookies. The cookies were last on our list and this grandma was getting tired. Miss J does all the measuring, stove stuff, ingredient gathering and actual mixing. We got to the part where you separate the dough, roll it into a ball and refrigerate for an hour. She hated the separation part as it was really sticky and the sugar was grainy. After we put it in the fridge to get cold I was teaching her to put away all the ingredients. We always set those aside as we are finished with them to remember what we added in case we lose focus. Well, if I lose focus. I went to relax and she came back with a question. She asked “why is our dough yellow when the picture is brown?” Then she handed me the bowl with the dry ingredients and asked “should I do something with the bowl?” I looked up and said “Trick or Treat. Just seeing if you were listening about why we clean up when we are done.” Massive FAIL. I don’t think she bought it. Anyway, once we fixed my oversight those cookies were the best we ever tasted.
