Gluten Free Ranch Dip

Whether you’re going on a picnic or just relaxing around the house, have some washed and cut veggies ready to go along with a tasty homemade dip.

Hidden Valley Ranch made famous the ‘Ranch’ dip and dressing with their original buttermilk secret recipe over 50 years ago.

I may not invented but its still pretty darn yummy.

I am all about saving time and money as well as serving a delicious dish.

These are the INGREDIENTS you will need:

  • ¾ cup GF sour cream, or buttermilk/alternative for dressing
  • ¾ cup GF mayonnaise or Vegan Mayonnaise
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp dried marjoram
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp dried dill
  • ½ tsp cider vinegar
  • Pepper to taste

These are the INSTRUCTIONS for preparation:

  • In a bowl, whisk the mayo and the buttermilk together until smooth.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Season with pepper and additional salt to taste.
  • Refrigerate for a couple of hours to let the flavors blend.
  • Remove and serve

NOTES and more options:

To use fresh herbs:

instead, mince the herbs finely, and use 3 times as much (e.g. 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, 1 ½ teaspoons fresh marjoram and thyme).

To Make Buttermilk:

put ¾ Tbsp vinegar into measuring cup and add whole milk (or milk alternative) to bring to ¾ cup – let stand 5 minutes.

For dairy-free version:

replace sour cream with silken tofu (blended until smooth in a blender)-For salad dressing, replace sour cream with buttermilk (or milk alternative)

The appetizer table is full of items to choose from.

Fruits, veggies, dippers and the dips themselves have to pass my muster.

If it isn’t delicious or present that WOW factor I am looking for, then the recipe simply won’t show up on my table again.

I am a dipper and dunker from way back.

One of my first memories of having company is the food my mother offered.

Back then warm cookies were my favorite.

If you saw a tall glass of milk, cookies rather homemade or from a package you could find me there.

As I grew up I evolved into a veggie and bread eater.

Sugar and carbs are my nemesis.

My goal now is to offer an array of items that satisfy everyone.

I have a few go to dips here on Marilyns Treats.

This one however is the most classic.

When serving a platter of colorful vegetables I like to get the best bang for my trouble.

Leaving the veggies cut into a size that is easy to grab but big enough to dunk in the dip is the best way to serve them.

And I also like to bring a twist to the offering while catching the eye of the passerby.

On this tray I put the dip into the well of my peppers. This is not only going to draw your guest to the platter but entice them to grab a bite.

It also leaves room on the table for the bowls of other dips and salads.

This Gluten Free Ranch Dip uses ingredients and spices to provide more subtle flavors than store bought options.

What could be better than homemade, inexpensive, delicious and easy?

You really need to try making your own Ranch Dip and start a new tradition!

If you're going on a picnic or just relaxing around the house, have some washed and cut veggies ready to go along with a tasty GLUTEN FREE homemade dip.
