Egg Nog Pie

Vanilla pudding, egg nog, milk, vanilla and rum flavoring make this pie a wonderful selection for the holiday.

Egg Nog Pie is a great dessert to create a family tradition by serving at Christmas or the New Year.

The cold and snowy season lends itself to having egg nog on hand and a little nutmeg sprinkled on top.

The addition of the rum flavoring is just the flavor the egg nog pie needs to make it a part of season!

My family just loves egg nog. They can’t wait until it hits the shelves.

We go to a neighborhood dairy and buy a few cartons. You can imagine how delicious and fresh it is.

Honestly, they go back each week until it is no longer made.

It is with this Guernsey Dairy Egg Nog to make her pie.

I am not sure where she got the recipe. She may even have put it together on her own.

She always flies by the seat of her pants when she cooks. I wish I came up with the recipes she does!

I urge you to make this pie for the holiday.

I love the pudding as it is mixed with the rum and vanilla.

And she always makes the star on the top with a bit of nutmeg she saves.

These are the INGREDIENTS you will need:

  • 1 package 4.6 oz vanilla pudding mix, Cook & Serve not instant
  • 1/2 tsp Ground nutmeg, divided in half
  • 1.5 cups egg nog
  • 2 Teaspoon Rum
  • 2 cups Heavy cream
  • 1 shell 9 inch pre baked pie shell

These are the INSTRUCTIONS For preparation:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine pudding mix, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, and eggnog; mix well
  • Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil.
  • Transfer mixture to a large bowl, cover, and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
  • In a medium bowl, whip the cream to soft peaks.
  • Spoon into baked pie shell.
  • Sprinkle additional nutmeg over the top for garnish.
  • Refrigerate 4 hours, or until set.

IMPORTANT: Use cook and serve pudding NOT instant. ( 2 steps won’t publish here. ) See card.

If you love the tradition of serving Egg Nog during this Holiday Season then this pie is right up your alley.

.It is an answer to that burning question of how to use up any left over egg nog.

Well, in my home there isn’t much leftover of anything so we need to always have extra on hand.

A dessert for when family and friends visit is always something you need to prepare.

So why not just prepare this no bake pie to have on hand?

Well, you do need to heat your ingredients in a sauce pan but there is no need to use the oven!

Enjoy!
