American Flag Krispy Treats
Rice Krispy Treats are a favorite quick snack for many kids.
Nothing makes Rice Krispy Treats better than dressing them up for the holidays with a little bit of food coloring.
Just add a bit of red and blue food color to sections of your dough.
Then put them together in stars and stripes for your finished dish.
You also can use food colors to celebrate any occasion.
Try pink and blue for a baby shower.
Or orange and black for a halloween treat.
These are great to represent school or team colors at game day.
Try school colors for a graduation.
Whatever you choose will be a great hit with your guests.
The sky is the limit!
What a great way to serve up the Holiday for your guests and table.
Krispy Treats are a favorite of young and old. They have been around for decades.
Just the aroma of the marshmallow wafting in the air makes me long for those sticky crunch squares.
Making them theme related for parties and family events just raises the bar.
Let me know in the comments how you decorated your treats.
American Flag Krispie Treats.
As American as apple pie, baseball and MOM.
Enjoy.
These are the INGREDIENTS you will need
White:
- 1 1/2 tbsp of butter
- 2 cups of marshmallows
- 3 cups of Rice Krispies
Red:
- 1 1/2 tbsp of butter
- 2 cups of marshmallows
- 3 cups of Rice Krispies
- Red food coloring
Blue:
- 1 1/2 tbsp of butter
- 2 cups of marshmallows
- 3 cups of Rice Krispies
- Blue food coloring
INSTRUCTIONS For how to make these American Flag Krispy Treats
- Start each half batch by melting down your butter and marshmallows. Leave one batch plain.
- Add a little bit of blue food coloring to one half batch
- Add a little bit of red food coloring to the other half batch
- Make the blue batch of Rice Krispy Treats first and put them into the 9×9 pan that has been sprayed well with cooking spray.
- Next make the red batch and add it into your 9X13 pan filling up only half of the pan.
- Last make your batch of plain Rice Krispy Treats and add them into the 9X13 pan with the red treats.
- Once the Rice Krispy Treats have cooled, turn them out of the pans onto a cutting surface.
- Using a bread knife, cut the white and red into long strips about an inch wide. I ended up with 4 strips of each color.
- Place your blue treats into the top left corner of the larger pan and estimate the size that you want it to be. Trim off the excess blue treats with your knife and then place your blue square of treats into the pan.
- Starting at the bottom with a red strip of treats, add in the strips alternating red and white, ending with red. I used 4 strips of red and 3 strips of white. You will have to cut the top three or four pieces to fit into the pan next to the blue treats.
- Use a star shaped cookie cutter to cut a few stars out of the leftover strip of plain Rice Krispy Treats, and then add them on top of the blue section of treats.

Rice krispies have always been a favorite of mine. In fact I can have them for breakfast, lunch and supper and I’ll be super happy 😀 Love the idea of adding food coloring to make a flag, That’s pretty neat.
It’s funny. I used to eat rice krispies as a kid everyday. Those were the days we added 1/2 cup of sugar to the bowl and drank all the “sludge” at the bottom. It’s amazing we have any teeth left! Have a great week.

Howdy! I’m visiting from “Create with Joy”. This looks like a fabulous fun and patriotic treat for the upcoming holiday weekend. I don’t have the stuff to try this but I’m saving your idea for a future date to make for DH. We are empty-nesters but we still like doing some of the same neat things we did when our kids were small. We’re basically kids at heart ourselves. 😉 Have a wonderful week.

Thank you Jess. And congrats on #100!!
O say can you see! 😉 What fun. And considerably easier than the flag buttercream cake with all the fruit arranged just so I used to make back in the days when I had time for complicated baking projects. Which is to say, not now. Happy summer, Marilyn!
I agree! I don’t do well at all trying to put different color icing side by side!! Thanks Elizabeth.
OMG I am totally going to make this for my family for the 4th of July! 😀 Awesome post and blog!
