It’s True! I Am A Blogger Of A Certain Age! When I first started blogging I was looking for a hobby to keep me busy and sharp as I started my retirement. I have always been drawn to the online community as a way to become familiar with many subjects and people that broadened my idea of life and the world. Starting with AOL chat rooms, moving on to interactive role playing games and eventually expanding into Social Media as it became popular was a natural progression. Facebook was full of wonderful glimpses into parenting, family, food and DIY. Lifestyle blogs caught my eye later on.
Wanting to become part of this wonderful universe where I could interact with like minded women and do it without incurring a huge expense or leaving the comfort of my own home was intriguing. I found myself drawn to the Recipe bloggers. I love to bake and have always taken photos of food from get togethers, events and restaurants. Combing through 4000 plus recipes I have collected over the past 40 years seemed to verify this was my niche.
As time marched on I learned more about the technical side of blogging. Having added almost 750 recipes to my blog I found myself wondering how to keep my ideas fresh and interesting. So, I branched out and started to turn my focus onto other bloggers work instead of just “my recipes” and put together roundups to “pay it forward” to others that shared my love of blogging. I wrote a few articles that are meant to initiate questions to important aspects of blogging. I also am writing a series of food related tips for beginners all the way through to the professional cook. This new area led me to the world of linkups, both hosting and attending. This new commitment has given me the greatest experience of all.
I have met such wonderful people from every walk of life and have found such a strong sense of friendship, mentoring and peace. I have never experienced these in such a huge way until now. My goal is to stay mentally active and to hopefully inspire just one person to take a look at who they are and where their life is going to take them. Middle age and the second half of your life can be as exciting and rewarding as the beginning! It doesn’t have to be the end.
